Grilled Cheese Grill Portland
We barely know where to begin when discussing the Grilled Cheese Grill. We've been to many grilled cheese trucks, carts, and diners where grilled cheese is the main event but if you put all of those visits across America together you still won't have an expansive enough menu to beat the Grilled Cheese Grill in Portland. This of course goes without mentioning that you can either opt to eat a Grilled Cheese Grill sandwich from either a food pod cart, a school bus, or a double decker bus. Yes, a double decker bus - completely outfitted for dining, no lunch box required.
Location alone sets the Grilled Cheese Grill on the right track. Next to mom's kitchen we can't imagine a better place to enjoy this childhood favorite comfort food than on the squeaky vinyl seats of a school bus. Leave it to Portland to figure this out.
The Grilled Cheese Grill mantra encourages patrons to "come for a taste of childhood" and that's exactly what they deliver right down to the gooey goodness. While they can get a little gourmet with some of their grilled cheese creations with the likes of The BABS - Bacon, Sliced Braeburn Apples, Crumbled Bleu Cheese and Swiss on Marble Rye - the Grilled Cheese Grill is no fufu pretentious panini wedged fancy finger sandwich eatery. Fan favorite and food challenge worthy Burger Behemoth is a monster. They "replaced" the bun with two grilled cheese sandwiches. Picture it - two grilled cheese sandwiches - one stuffed with pickles and American cheese and the other with grilled onions and Colby jack, each bookending the burger. Then factor in lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard and a 1/3lb beef burger in between. It's like something a 12 year old latchkey kid would build for a session of Super Mario Brothers before the folks get home from the office. The Grilled Cheese Grill in Portland is a taste of childhood indeed.
