YAH Says : Aliso Beach may not… view more

Aliso Beach may not be as casual or relaxing (depending on your tastes) as Main Beach, Laguna due to the steep sloping sand and the at times massive shorebreaking waves that can wash away your beach towels and picnic set in a heart beat. But this is made up for by setting the stage for the some of the most captivating sites in the area.

Aliso beach is world class arena to watch big wave skimboarders perform death defying aerial maneuvers in front of a crowd of beach bums and photo/filmographers. It should be noted that this section of beach is for advanced skimboarders, body boarders and swimmers when the conditions get heavy. Novices should head north up the beach for calmer waters. The lifeguards will be quick to regulate you to your proper place for your own safety so please heed their word.

For the casual adventurer, Aliso has fantastic "book end" beaches. A few steps to the north puts you under the cliffs of the renowned Montage Resort where wealthy guests (or contest winners) lay out on their lounge chairs sipping lemonade. Feel free to speak to them (just dont touch!) and even make your way up the path to browse the grounds of the Montage. The south end of Aliso Beach is where you will find some breathtaking photo opportunities. When the tide is out, you can sand hike around the corner and caress the edges of the outcroppings while discovering small caves and rock formations carved and molded over hundreds of years by the ocean for your viewing pleasure.

Aliso Beach is highly recommended for those seeking a more adventurous beach experience.

YAH Says : The creative (sarcasm) name… view more

The creative (sarcasm) name basically says it all. This is the main beach where most residents and tourist congregate. The standard beach fun (tanning, swimming, volleyball, flip flop cruising) can be had at Main Beach as well as some not so standard activities. The area's best outdoor basketball court is perched beside the sand and there are many shops and eateries within steps from the beach.

The down side for those in search of more adventurous beach fun, comes from the constant black balling (forbidding) of surfing and skimboarding at this beach in order to make room for frolicking family units and risk averse citizens.

Mission Statement  From Owner/Website

La Vida Laguna is a spirit embodied by the people fortunate enough to call Laguna Beach home. You can't live or visit here without being affected by its profound natural beauty. This is a place where the coastal breeze, smell of the ocean, gorgeous vistas and sunsets put a spring in people's step, where they regularly remark to each other, "wasn't today amazing?"

La Vida Laguna was launched in 2002 to share the outdoor, aquatic adventures that were previously inaccessible to all but a few. Being in a natural playground, we're all about fun things to do in Southern California. Whether it's paddling into hidden coves, snorkeling secret reefs, surfing our epic swells, biking our coastal wilderness or scenic beach strands, or even drumming on the beach around a bonfire, you'll return renewed, transformed, and invigorated by all nature has to offer.

Everything we do is environmental. It’s in our DNA. We don’t use motors or gas. We believe in the power of the people. We don’t litter. We have or leave no permanent structures. We clean up behind and around us. In short, we love nature and the ocean, and not only seek to preserve it, but also seek to enhance it by educating the public on becoming better ocean stewards and environmental evangelists.

YAH Says : La Vida Laguna is… view more

La Vida Laguna is your one stop shop for all eco-related activities and then some. From kayaking and surfing to treasure hunts and drum circles (yep), La Vida Laguna does it the point of almost not making any sense at all, which is what makes them so awesome!
