ABOUT Splitz Grill

Splitz Grill opened its doors for the first time in December of 1997 in the heart of Whistler B.C. by owners Trevor and Miriam Jackson.

What started out as a tiny 700 sq ft, 10 seat burger joint, quickly became the only place in town to get a truly unique home style burger.

In the spring of 2000 the space next door became available which was more than twice the size. We seized the opportunity and by the summer Splitz Grill had doubled its business in its new roomy location.

The next 5 years saw the line-ups continue as we became known for having the best burger in Whistler. People visit us from all corners of the globe and we are continually told that we have the best burger they have ever tasted.

In late 2005 we decided it was time to open up shop in the heart of our largest loyal customer base, Vancouver B.C.

January 1 2007, the Whistler torch was passed to long-time friends and colleagues Paul and Cathy McGeough who are committed to keeping with the same great food and service.

In Early 2007 we set out on our quest to bring Whistlers best burger to Vancouver. We found this ideal location situated in the heart of the city, right on restaurant row, on Main Street, and opened for business in January of 2008

We are committed to continuing our reputation that was born in Whistler, and hope that you really enjoy your Splitz experience. We look forward to building a lasting reputation as we continue to grow into the future.

Google "Best Burger in Vancouver" and Splitz Grill will pop up on page one time and time again and they're in no danger of losing that place any time soon as Word of Mouth keeps Splitz Grill going.

This burger bar is set up for patrons to place their order SUBWAY style - selecting toppings and condiments before taking a seat but then having the goods delivered to their table when ready. We ordered the Splitz  Classic Double Stacker and added bacon and two cheeses (extra $) to the tally.

While we prefer to have a burger joint take the guess work out of the ordering process by suggesting a burger that they the culinary artists themselves have concocted for our benefit, there was little to complain about when the towering burger hit the table.

Each patty packed a wallop and we're glad we took the advice of the counter chef to add Splitz's Special Sauce (garlic and cream dressing) two both sides of the bun which served to further enhance the sweet and seasoned taste of what we consider to be the best beef patty we've tasted in Greater Vancouver. The beef was properly cooked without the pink that some local burger joints think is necessary to keep a patty juicy. The grill at Splitz apparently knows how to seal in the juices without making patrons uneasy with the prospect that their meal may or may not be undercooked. On the flip side Splitz also avoids overcooking the beef, magically finding that exquisite balance that so few burger palaces put together.

Even with paying for add-ons (cheese, bacon, etc...) the price was right at Splitz Grill especially when you consider that the counter operation means you get to skip the 15% tip - a big plus for those craving a high quality burger on a tight budget.

NEXT TIME WE'LL...

...try the milkshakes and ice cream floats that they have on tap. We've heard good things.
